Certification Prep

Setting You Up for Exam Success

Our 94% first-attempt certification pass rate reflects the quality of our preparation — not luck. Here are the core practices our most successful students follow:

  • Attend every class. Each session builds on the previous one — gaps compound quickly in a compressed program.
  • Complete all assigned reading before class, not after. Coming prepared means every lesson is reinforcement, not first exposure.
  • Practice your skills after every lab session at home using the skills checklist — repetition builds the muscle memory that the clinical exam tests.
  • Use practice questions daily in the final two weeks before your written exam. Volume matters: aim for 50+ questions per day.
  • Sleep the night before your exam. Fatigue is the most predictable cause of avoidable errors on the skills component.
  • On skills test day: talk through every step as you perform it. Verbal narration demonstrates understanding and keeps you from skipping steps.

Clinical Rotation

Preparing for Your Clinical Days

Clinical rotations are the heart of your training. Here is what to expect and how to make the most of every hour.

Before Your First Clinical Day

✓ Complete all required forms (health screening, background check, immunization records)
✓ Confirm your facility assignment and parking instructions with the clinical coordinator
✓ Review the facility's dress code — typically white or solid-color scrubs
✓ Practice your skills — you will be observed from day one
✓ Bring your student ID and any required documentation

During Clinical Rotations

✓ Introduce yourself to the nursing staff at the start of every shift — relationship matters
✓ Ask questions. Curiosity is always appropriate; silence in the face of uncertainty is not
✓ Document every patient interaction and skill completed on your hours log
✓ Follow your supervising nurse's guidance at all times — they are your first authority
✓ Treat every patient with the same dignity and care you would want for your own family

What Gets Evaluated

Your clinical supervisor will assess: technical skill execution, patient communication, infection control practices, professionalism and punctuality, response to feedback, and accurate documentation.

Your Ánmut instructor will review your clinical log and meet with you at midpoint and completion.

If You Have a Problem

If you experience any difficulty during your clinical rotation — a conflict with facility staff, an incident with a patient, a concern about safety, or a personal emergency — contact your Ánmut clinical coordinator immediately. Do not try to handle serious issues alone.
